# Balarama in Vrindavana

Balarama went to visit the residents of Vrindavana for two months, consoled them in their separation from Krishna, and performed His own *rasa-lila.* Once, whilst intoxicated by Varuni, He commanded the Yamuna to come closer so He could bathe in her waters with the *gopis*. When she refused, Balarama wielded His plow and dragged her, splitting the river into hundreds of tributaries. She then apologised, and Balarama enjoyed sporting in her waters.
