# Rishabhadeva’s Appearance

One of Agnidhra’s sons, Nabhi, underwent severe austerities to have a child just like the Supreme Lord. To reciprocate, Rishabhadeva manifested Himself in the sacrificial arena. The priests offered prayers to the Lord and felt somewhat embarrassed that He had appeared simply to fulfil the aspiration of the King. The Lord, always responsive to the prayers of His devotees, nevertheless agreed to appear in the womb of Merudevi, the wife of King Nabhi.
