# Indra Kills Visvarupa

Brahma had hinted that Visvarupa was inclined to the demons. When Visvarupa saw them miserably defeated by the demigods, he secretly offered oblations into the *yajna* on their behalf. When Indra discovered this disloyalty, he angrily beheaded Visvarupa, but later regretted the act of murdering a *brahmana*. Although Indra could counteract the sinful reactions, he instead accepted them and shared them amongst the land, water, trees and women.
