# Pariksit’s Rule

Having narrated the events leading to Maharaja Pariksit’s coronation, Suta Goswami next described the intriguing story of the King’s life.&#x20;

Maharaja Pariksit governed the land as an ideal King, married Iravati (the daughter of King Uttara), begot four children, and performed auspicious sacrifices under the guidance of the family *brahmana*, Kripacarya. When the King observed the inauspicious effects of Kali entering his kingdom, he fearlessly seized his weapons and set out to counteract the evil influence.
