# Pariksit’s Rule

Having narrated the events leading to Maharaja Pariksit’s coronation, Suta Goswami next described the intriguing story of the King’s life. 

Maharaja Pariksit governed the land as an ideal King, married Iravati (the daughter of King Uttara), begot four children, and performed auspicious sacrifices under the guidance of the family *brahmana*, Kripacarya. When the King observed the inauspicious effects of Kali entering his kingdom, he fearlessly seized his weapons and set out to counteract the evil influence.
